Excerpted from "When The Buddha Met Bubba"
“Why aren’t you still pissed at Big Dick, Pooh? Hell, I would be. That ignorant son-of-a-bitch pisses me off just thinking about the way he talked to me and you.”
“Bubba, let me tell you a story.” He started walking with his hands folded in front of him like he was about to pray. “One time there was an old monk and a young monk who were making a pilgrimage from the monastery to a holy place, miles away. The two of them came up to a huge mud puddle and standing there was this beautiful young woman. Now monks take a vow to never touch women and both monks knew this well. The old monk looked at the woman, then looked at the puddle and he picked the woman up and put her on his back and carried her across and set her down on the other side. The two monks continued their journey. At the end of a long day the monks retired for the night in small hermitage. The young monk said, ‘You know it is not permissible for monks to touch women and yet you picked that woman up and carried her across the mud puddle. How could you do that? It is part of the vows we take. The old monk responded, ‘I left her on the other side of the puddle; have you not been carrying her all day?’”
Now I guarandamtee you I didn’t understand the story. Well, maybe just a little. I think what Pooh was saying is that what had happened in that moment between Big Dick and him was over and there was no need chewing your cud for a second time.
